NiJeL's team of mapping and web experts is ready to help you create the perfect visual that explains complex problems and how your program is having tangible, quantifiable impacts. From improving advocacy and fundraising to understanding the root causes of seemingly intractable problems, NiJeL's high performance mapping and analysis helps you tell your story.
At NiJeL, we think mapping works best when it's designed to answer your questions, and so our high performance mapping projects begin with what answers you need to know. We then design our approach around the questions you need answered.
After we define the project's methods, we take your spatial data - be it digital mapping data, data from a spreadsheet, or even just paper records - and import them with other pertinent data into our mapping environment. NiJeL uses open source mapping tools to manipulate, create, and analyze your data at low cost to you. Our analysis might include advanced queries, buffer analysis, creating cost surfaces, or other complicated map calculations - the type of analysis depends on your questions. Finally, we can design both high quality printed and digital static maps as well as dynamic, interactive maps served over the web. It's your choice.
If you're looking for examples of how high performance mapping has helped other organizations make better decisions and advocate for their cause, take a look at the following projects NiJeL has been a part of:
Beatitudes Center DOAR, a Phoenix-based non-profit, interfaith organization serves home-bound elders and their caregivers, adults with disabilities, grandparents raising grandchildren, and faith communities promoting health and well-being. Supported by a grant from the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, NiJeL worked with Beatitudes Center DOAR to create an online mapping application that shows in real-time the locations of homebound elders who need volunteer assistance. With these maps, we are hoping to make it easier for current and potential volunteers with Beatitudes Center DOAR to see who exactly in their neighborhood needs help right now, and to facilitate matching volunteers with home-boung elders who need assistance. You can find the online maps at http://maps.nijel.org/centerdoar/
NiJeL teamed up with Community Outreach and Advocacy for Refugees or COAR, a Tempe-based advocacy and service organization supporting resettled refugees in their efforts to rebuild positive, self-sufficient lives, to create the Refugee Resource Map. The Refugee Resource Map is a community based-mapping tool that can assist the refugee community and their providers (including professional caseworkers and volunteers), allowing quick access to the spatial data and a forum for anyone to add content. Users can locate affordable apartments, local health care providers, and child care among many other map layers. We hope this map can be a "one stop shop," powered by refugees and volunteers, that will assist service providers with finding resources near homes and workplaces.
NiJeL worked with The Association of Arizona Food Banks to develop the Arizona Food Bank Finder, a online map where needy Arizonans can find nearby food resources. The map shows the locations of organizations that provide food boxes, infant boxes, soup kitchens, food co-op boxes, home meals or onsite meals, and allows users to locate themselves and find the nearest food resoruce that meets their needs.
